Authors Piet Brouwer and Wim Kroon talk about their project Vaya con Dios.

'Vaya' is no ordinary musical. It is a journey through your life. Using the Bible as a guide, we sing about the most profound phases of a person's life, from the cradle to the grave. Or rather: from creation to the last day.

'Vaya con Dios': Go your way with God. We start with a surprising song about how it all began. How beautiful it all is, God's creation. There is a tender song, by a mother who sings to her unborn child. And an almost bouncing song by two teenagers in love. But also a song about a busy family. And about someone who is successful at work ('Succes aan alle kanten'), but who in the meantime runs himself ragged. And about two elderly people, who look back on their lives together. In short: a wide range of life songs, in very different rhythms and styles, culminating in a dance of joy, when the big wedding begins, once on the last day.

The songs are always connected by an introductory text, to be read by a reader. You can sing 'Vaya' with a few people. It is also possible with soloists and a choir. You can sing several songs while singing. The songs can also be sung separately. For example, in a baptism service, a wedding service or at a funeral.

Depending on the performance, 'Vaya' can be sung without a break in about an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half, making it a responsible alternative to an evening service. In short: we think 'Vaya' is just what you are looking for for the new season.
