Digital choir music

Can we scan our current paper music library and distribute it among our members?
Opinions in the legal world are divided on this. Our starting point is: If it was purchased legally and the invoice is still present, this is allowed. NOTE: Other publishers and rights holders may view this differently.

HOWEVER : At all times it must be prevented that these scans are freely shared with people outside the choir! So only for personal use and no more scans/pdf than for which printed matter was purchased. This must be very clear to the members of the choir. The same penalties apply here as for illegal copying.

PLEASE NOTE : Some choirs make things available on their own website for members. This may only be done behind a well-secured (password or something) environment, so that the content is not openly available on the internet.

What if you run out of digital copies, for example in the case of new members, how does that work?
The same applies as for printed matter: Reorder by email to sales@koormuziek.nl

How do we proceed when not everyone wants to work digitally, but you get a combination of paper and digital. Or do you advise against that?
It is certainly possible to order a combination of print and PDF. Again, no more PDFs are shared or printed than the license has been paid for.

For example, can I also use digital music printed out on paper?
Yes, for personal use that is allowed. Again, no more than what the license was paid for.

Do you have any tips for choosing a program for using digital music?
Our digital sheet music is delivered as a PDF file. These can be opened on almost any device (PV/Mac, tablet, smartphone)

How much does it cost?
PDF delivery is €0.25 cheaper per copy.

How many members are allowed to use a digital file?
You are buying a certified PDF with a license for a paid number of prints. You may not, with reference to the copyright law, make more 'prints' than the license allows. More singers or musicians? Then order more.

How does it work if the conductor has written an arrangement himself?
This is how it has always been. Read Point 5 of the FAQ.
