Description
John W. Peterson himself once explained what inspired him to make Night of Miracles.
"When I started the cantata 'Night of Miracles', I was faced with a double challenge: composing a unique work and coming up with a new theme. What theme could I use to present the wonderful Christmas story in an original way?"
Miraculous! Perhaps it was! “The night of Jesus’ birth is indeed a miracle for many reasons! I began to list them, using passages from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, and soon a thread emerged for my version of the story of that unforgettable night. A night when age-old prophecies were miraculously fulfilled; a night when shepherds gazed in awe at the heavenly spectacle, when angels told them of the birth of the Prince of Peace; a night when God sent His only Son to be born of a virgin for the redemption of a world of sinners. This last fact was the most miraculous of all!”
It was a divine love story. This love knows no bounds. It is limitless and unconditional, and it was first shown on that beautiful night so long ago... a night full of wonders."
