NPases: Blessed Redeemer was written from a desire to reconcile the darkness of crucifixion with the blessing that Jesus brings as Redeemer. Mark Hall, lead singer of Casting Crowns, also chose the song to sing with his home congregation, because its simplicity and captivating polyphony built a bridge in the congregation. The basis of the song is the beautiful melody and the duet format, but where the choir swells and thus reflects the sacrifice of Christ in the music, churchgoers appear to gain deep personal experiences and insights. The a cappella ending leaves everyone in awe; filled with a sense of the love of this Tender Shepherd.
