Review in Vocal: The Oslo Gospel Choir (OGC) recently released a new work: I will carry you. It has a clear verse-chorus structure in which a lead singer, an alto, takes care of the verses and the SATB choir sings the choruses. On a recording that can be heard on Spotify, and in the clip that can be seen on YouTube, you can hear that the lead singer can improvise on the second chorus. This improvisation is, as the word actually says, not written out. What is powerful about the recordings that can be found, is the strong textual experience of the music.
